A 21-day affair

And so we are fasting,

The whole 6000-7000 (or so)people of Paradise Community Church are all doing this Daniel- style fast for 21 days starting Monday gone. Things I’ve already learnt:

We’re so blessed to do it together…somehow it’s not so hard that way.

My God is already so proud of us and will be more than faithful to reward those that diligently seek Him.

Diligently seek Him doesn’t just mean spending 10 hours speaking in tongues and binding the devil. “Diligently seeking Him can include things I do that centre around Him like reading a great book, singing, spending time with friends talking about the God-things in our lives, prayer walking in a beautiful park, journaling, chatting with Him like I would with my best friend, putting on a favourite worship cd while I’m doing my work, choosing to focus on praying for something on my list instead of thinking about what I’m going to eat next. Making God my reward instead of food…..and the list goes on!

And so in my journal today I wrote Him a heartfelt note, just as I would to Cheryl or Rose or someone else, telling Him what I desired, what was difficult, how I felt and also how I think He must feel about this.

And then at the top, I wrote “21 DAYS of POWER”. I paused however, and then scratched that out and wrote

“A 21 day love affair”

because of the simple fact that I don’t want this to be a boring legalistic exercise. I want a exciting, passionate journey that only gets better with each passing day.

Blessings to everyone doing this! J We’ll be great!!! And REMEMBER!!! Most importantly…let’s not compare ourselves to others and think “aiyoh he/she is so much more spiritual than me! Lie of the devil who will try all that he can to condemn you! Be aware of his schemes…he often comes in subtle ways! Remember, Daddy looks at the heart. He is so proud of you. The Holy Spirit is our BIGGEST supporter and 24 hour helpline!

Ooooh this is going to be GREAT! *LAUGH*

I love this pic taken by my darling gracey at our recent BU winter fashion parade at church.. My first ever modelling exercise. I must say that I am quite the novice at the strut and pout, both of which, Tarin Marshall (my gorgeous partner and sister to Dylan) has completely mastered. All the same, it was very enjoyable!

The busyness attracts

happy [BELATED] birthday to one of the funniest, craziest, lovable real-est people I've ever known.

YOU ARE

* the most effective walking partner in the world (considering that to u a 5 minute walk round the block is a goood work out & that pigging out on ice cream, cereal, yoghurt, toast and chocolate all in one go straight after exercising is a well deserved reward!)

* the bestest tour buddy! (It was great touring Germany, Russia, the Bahamas, Hawaii and Croatia with you...it's amazing what the imagination can do!)

* the greatest singing partner (You never miss a foul note or pitching issue!)

* the nicest sort of friend (You are true, never afraid to speak your mind, completely accepting, absolutely funny, totally earnest and refreshingly real all at the same time!)

Where impossibility meets faith

What started off about 5 years ago as a single car load of scared, unsuspecting, wide eyed international students huddled together in Ps Matt Fielder’s car has turned into this:

A full blown thriving international student ministry

With our very own Malaysian born pastors who were brought all the way to Adelaide this year just for us!

Concerts with Jaclyn Victor, Malaysian idol and Juwita Suwito, recording artist

And! The start of an even more incredible journey – the birth of our very own fortnightly meetings the first of which will be launched by the famous Altered Frequency. It has been nothing but GOD. A tiny group of overseas students who met together to a ministry that is continually growing and impacting the hundreds of students in our city.

IT MUST BE, MUST BE GOD!

Never, never despise humble beginnings.

Seize EVERY opportunity

And let GOD!

Yes!! (to those who have gone home) can u believe it??? This is now the International Student Ministry of Paradise Community Church:

And so to the struggling little groups and churches out there, all I can say is don't give up, don't despise what you have and don't lose heart, because the Holy Spirit is NOT limited by finance or resource. Your passion and hungry heart will always remain the essentials to the work of GOd.

Weekend Wonder

With free weekends so few and in between, time well spent brings GREAT fulfillment. I must say this weekend was exceptional for reason of two very special people who decided to spend Saturday with me. So over:

We laughed, sang (i did), cried (well, sharon almost did anyway), pigged out and just had a jolly good time.

I can't wait for this weekend....guess who's coming to town!!

Observation

Part 1:

God knows exactly how I work. He knows how I'll react to things, how I will react in situations, my thoughts, my thoughts about my thoughts, the mistakes i make when i attempt to approach a situation because that's the way I work and even the decisions I make that I could possible regret in the future (how scary!!!) because I really don't have it all together right now. HE KNOWS! HE KNOWS!

Part 2:

I know that God knows how I work (because He wired me that way) and that He allows things to happen in spite of my "issues' because He's got my back. But now, He wants me to know how He works because knowing how He works builds a solid foundation in my life that gives me a certainty of Who and what i can trust no matter what turn life may take. Knowing how He works helps me trust Him and when I can trust Him then everything else is A-OK.

Prayer

dear Father God, You know how I work. Now please help learn how You work. Open my eyes and heart to Your word coz that's the best way to know You. Help me please Holy Spirit. Love Sheen.
